Surface finish changes how limestone looks, feels and performs. The same color can appear soft and elegant in a honed finish, more tactile in a sand finish, stronger outdoors in a bush-hammered finish and more expressive with decorative linear textures.
Monol Recycled Limestone can be selected in different surface effects according to the project application and design intention.
Honed finish
A honed finish is smooth and matte. It reduces strong reflection and gives the material a refined, calm appearance. It is a good choice for interior walls, hotel lobbies, residential feature walls, counters and selected floor areas.
Choose honed when the design requires quiet luxury and clean surfaces.
Sand finish
A sand finish has a fine textured surface. It makes the limestone character more tactile and can be suitable for facades, wall panels and areas where a more natural surface is desired.
Choose sand finish when the design needs texture, but not a very rough surface.
Bush-hammered finish
A bush-hammered finish is stronger and more textured. It is generally more suitable for outdoor paving, steps, courtyards and landscape applications where the surface should feel grounded and rustic.
Choose bush-hammered for exterior paving or places where the design calls for a stronger stone character.
Decorative textures
Linear, carved, herringbone and relief textures can create feature walls and custom design elements. These finishes are not usually used everywhere. They work best as focused visual surfaces in tea houses, showrooms, restaurants and boutique interiors.
Selection checklist
- Where will the material be installed: wall, floor, facade or outdoor paving?
- Is the space residential, commercial or public?
- Does the surface need to be calm, tactile or visually expressive?
- Will the material be touched often or mainly viewed?
- Should the finish match other materials such as timber, metal or plaster?
Has a physical sample been approved under actual lighting conditions?
